Rebecca Stocker, LMSW, Executive Director/ Counselor, is one of our counselors and oversees the overall function of the clinic including all three concentrations (medical, case management and counseling). She also does the grant writing, customer relations, human resources, oversees fundraisers and development and works to improve the organization in every way to benefit the patients. Rebecca is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a BA in Spanish and a Minor in History. She also obtained her MS in Social work from The University of Texas Pan American and has her certificate in Non Profit Leadership and Management from the Center for Com-munity Based and Non profit organizations, and TANO. Rebecca is a proud member of McAllen North Rotary and enjoys community service work to improve our community. Rebecca likes to spend her free time fishing, running and camping.

Nancy Saenz, LCSW, Counseling Services Director/ Counselor, has been with Hope since 2007 when she completed her internship and obtained her MS degree in the Social Work program at UTPA. She received a BS in Sociology with a minor in Psychology and her LBSW from Texas A&M in 1990. In 2009 Nancy received her Board Approved Supervisor Certification and is now able to supervise other social workers intending on obtaining their LCSW licenses. As Counseling Director, Nancy oversees the day to day operations in the counseling department. Additionally, she serves as the field liaison for UTPA interns from the Social Work, Clinical Psychology, and Rehabilitation Counseling departments. Furthermore, Nancy carries a full caseload of counseling clients that she sees daily. In the near future, she intends on opening up her private practice on a part time basis and continue to work with individuals, couples and families.

David Avila, Medical Services Coordinator, is a 2006 Biochemistry graduate from Baylor University. His most important duties as medi-cal coordinator include scheduling, assigning, and assisting medical volunteers such as doctors, P.A.s and nurse practitioners. On his spare time David enjoys playing chess and spending time with his wife. In the near future, David plans to apply for the P.A. program at U.T. Pan Am.

Christopher Cantu LPC-Intern, Counseling Services Coordinator/ Counselor, is one of our counselors maintaining an active caseload in addition to his duties as coordinator for the counseling department. Coordinator duties most importantly include maintaining the counseling client list, screening new or potential clients, and providing information about Hope counseling services to the public and current clients. Chris graduated from The University of Texas Pan American in 2009 with a Masters degree in Clinical Psychology, and in 2001 with a Bachelors degree in Psychology and Anthropology from The University of Texas Austin. Previously he taught elementary school for 7 years for the Edinburg school district. His future plans include finishing the state requirements for full licensure as an LPC and eventually opening his own counseling practice in the RGV or Austin.

Sandra Reyes, Office Manager, as Office Manager Sandra, truly enjoys working with families face to face on a daily basis giving quality customer service to help those in need. Her responsibilities include maintaining applications and medical files as well as establish and maintain patient relations. She has a background in Graphic Design and because of her experience here at Hope, in the future she wishes to pursue a career that will allow her to continue helping the community.

Cynthia Anguiano, LMSW, Case Manager/ Counselor, whose duties include assessing clients to determine which services are appropri-ate and available and inform the client about the assistance that a physician or community organization provides, and serve as external liaison between HOPE and outside organizations. Additionally, Cynthia is one of our counselors. She graduated from The University of Texas Pan American with a BA in Clinical Psychology / French and from The University of Bordeaux, France with a Masters degree in Clinical Social Work. She also holds / an Education degree from The Anglo/University of Cambridge. Her future plans include pursuing her PhD in / Clinical Social Work to open her own practice and teach at a university.

Kathryn Chacra, LCSW, Social Worker/ Counselor, is one of our full time counselors maintaining an active caseload as well as assisting the Executive Director with risk management duties. Kathryn also supervises masters level social work interns from UTPA and this se-mester from Baylor University. She graduated with a Bachelors degree in social work in 2004 from the University of Texas at Austin and with a Masters degree in social work in 2007 from Columbia University in the City of New York. She has predominately worked in medi-cal settings, including at the American Cancer Society in Austin, TX and Cancer Care in Manhattan. Kathryn is a Junior League of McAllen member and active member of the Hidalgo Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha Alumnae. Kathryn plans to maintain her full time position with HFHC while starting a part time private practice in the coming months.

Mayra Avila, LMSW, Social Workder/ Counselor, graduated from The University of Texas-Pan American in 2010 with a Master of Science in Social Work and obtained a license from the State of Texas in January 2011. Her future plans are to complete the supervision hours required to obtain a License in Clinical Social Work and continue assisting the families in the Rio Grande Valley by providing coun-seling services. She loves working closely with the community and is very active in health fairs and special events.

Alex Contreras, Office Assistant, is currently attending The University of Texas Pan American and is majoring in Engineering. Alex?s duties at Hope include assisting the Office Manager with her duties, maintaining patient relations, answering phone calls, setting up patient appointments, and assisting with volunteer management. On his spare time, Alex enjoys catching a movie with friends or family and exercising.
